In 2015, Dave lost his right leg to amputation, followed by his left in 2022. Confronted with a life-or-death decision, he prayed for a miracle, but the surgeries were unavoidable. In the aftermath, Dave wrestled with despair, questioning what his life could be. The weight of grief was heavy, and when people offered help, he pushed them away, insisting, "I’ve got this." But in time, he realized that by refusing help, he was denying others the chance to show kindness—a humbling moment that shifted his perspective.
Dave began to see his amputations not as losses, but as openings for connection. Strangers, drawn by his resilience, would ask if he needed help, sparking conversations about life and faith. He started to wonder: what does "God" mean to them? These moments became opportunities to share God’s love, rooted in Romans 8:28—that all things work for good. His faith, the anchor of his journey, transformed pain into purpose. While happiness is fleeting, Dave found a deep, unshakable joy in these encounters, knowing each one was a chance to reflect God’s grace.
Through these interactions, Dave discovered a mission: to bring people together, no matter their struggles or abilities. "Walk With Dave" is a community event born from this vision, inviting everyone—whether in wheelchairs, with prosthetics, or on foot—to walk, talk, and find encouragement. It’s about overcoming life’s hurdles and embracing the truth at the heart of Dave’s testimony: God’s love is constant, no matter your past or pain. For Dave, every step is a testament to faith, purpose, and the power of connection.
